This fantasy-style map of Utah is hand-drawn by a local Utah artist and transformed into a layered wood artwork using precision laser engraving. Inspired by classic Tolkien-era cartography, it blends geography, imagination, and craftsmanship into a timeless display piece.
Mountains, forests, rivers, and national parks are engraved and layered from natural wood, while painted lakes add contrast and depth. The result is a rich, tactile map that rewards close inspection.

Every legendary journey needs a map, but this project began closer to home in our American Fork workshop. At Mr Armageddon Builds, we’ve always been driven by the intersection of technology and craftsmanship. For this piece, we wanted to create something that felt like a relic pulled straight from a fantasy epic.
While many wood maps are made from stock digital files, this version is entirely original. We collaborated with a local Utah artist who hand-illustrated the entire landscape from scratch, from the jagged peaks of the High Uintas to the mythical sea serpent lurking in the Great Salt Lake. Her unique style captures the rugged beauty of the Beehive State through the lens of classic high fantasy.
Once the illustration was complete, we used our precision laser-engraving and 3D-modeling techniques to bring those lines to life in natural wood. By layering the hand-painted blue waters beneath the engraved topography, we created a depth that you can actually feel.
This map isn't just a piece of decor; it’s a tribute to the landscapes we love, reimagined for the adventurers, the dreamers, and the "nerd cave" explorers among us.
